As we enter the new year we are usually super-focused on setting goals for the next few months. We are highly driven and goal-oriented this time of year, making sure we define goals like they should be defined - the S.M.A.R.T way: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-based goals.
And it’s true. This is the right (and smart:) way to set goals. Smart goals allow us to create a clear action plan for achieving them.
But what about our…dreams? What about that big vision we have for our life? Where do these come into play with all this S.M.A.R.T goal setting going on right now?
Growth Focus is meant to remind us of our overarching goals. Growth Focus is a short definition of our vision for different areas of our life such as health and wellness, financials, relationships, spirituality and more.
Once we defined a 1-2 sentence vision for a specific area, it is easier to establish SMART goals that propel us in the direction of our vision/overarching goals.
Here’s how to use the Growth Focus printable to establish your growth focus:
Choose the areas you want to grow in.
Define a mission statement that is connected to your vision.
This mission statement is your Growth Focus.
Your goals should strive to achieve it.
Write it down and keep it where you can see it.
